Almost there….

 Hello Friends

The last few months have been filled with mostly weaving, a little less-than-usual piano-ing, and travel!

as I have mentioned to my friends who follow my instagram posts, I’ve been preparing for “Spreading Joy”, my upcoming retrospective art show at 2Create Gallery on Main Street in Ramona, which opens June 6 (a week from today!).

It has been a couple of years since I’ve exhibited any work, so I feel as though this is a coming out party for me.  I’m excited…also a little nervous…and mostly overjoyed.

Since January I have completed five new weavings, two of which were featured in my previous post.

Here’s a peek at the other three: a small Sante Fe style rug, an abstract diptych tapestry I’ve entitled “Conversations”, and another tapestry inspired by a recent plein air landscape by Natasha Isenhour.

Hey!  What’s up? Those photos I added aren’t opening up!!!

Okay…..how about this:

Please join us next Friday for the opening,  from 5-7pm, or if the following Sunday suits you better, I’ll be in the gallery from 12-5.

Let’s share some joy!

Bound to Weave

Well Hello There!  Long time no see!

I’ve been on the slow road to learning a new weave structure: bound weave.  New to me, that is.  Like so many other facets of weaving, this one’s been around for a long while.

Used mainly for rugs, saddle blankets, and other such items, it’s a thickly woven structure that really eats up the yarn while providing a super-strong durable textile.

I started out with a couple of small pieces, then recently jumped onto the Rio Grande loom out at Beryl Warnes’ Academy of Handweaving in Santa Ysabel.

Here’s one: stay tuned for more….and thanks for checking in!

Be well and happy — enjoy!
